French artisans Maison Fèvre

The family story began as a watchmaker in 1890 and evolved fifty years later into the craftsmanship of watch straps in Saint-Flour and the establishment of the head office in Vichy in 1960. It was therefore from 1942 that Maison Fèvre offered its exceptional artisan savoir-faire through its various creations of interchangeable watch straps for men and women, as well as its watch rolls and storage boxes. In the 1960s, the pocket watch gave way to wristwatches. Specialist in handmade watch straps, Maison Fèvre has perpetuated the artisanal tradition for three generations.

With its own workshops in France and then in Madagascar since the 1990s, Maison Fèvre designs its creations at its headquarters in Vichy, helping to promote French craftsmanship around the world. The R&D department and artisans work together.

A Maison Fèvre watch strap requires 16 manufacturing steps or more, depending on its complexity

grained leather for making watch straps

The manufacturing stages: leather inspection, pre-cutting, splitting of the upper leather, skiving (thinning the ends), fitting the tear-resistant insert (ensuring the strap durability), splitting of the leather lining, second skiving, folding the buckle end, application of the lining, final cutting (cutting the final shape of the strap), topstitching, cutting the slot for the pin and perforating the adjustment holes for the quick-release system (spring bars), dyeing the edge, loop assembly, hot stamping (branding and size marking), followed by quality control.

The mastery of traditional leathers (cowhide, calf, goat and lamb) as well as exotic leathers (crocodile/alligator, lizard and ostrich) is widely acknowledged in the world of watchmaking.

Maison Fèvre also offers waterproof, fabric, and vegan watch straps (made from pineapple fiber and cork), as well as a collection compatible with Apple Watch.
